Website Maintenance and Support
Updates, backups, security checks, content changes and clearly scoped support response times.
The challenge
Websites rarely break loudly. An update is skipped, a plugin goes unsupported, a backup has not been tested in a year, and everything looks fine until the day it does not. The work that prevents that is routine, unglamorous, and the first thing to fall off a busy team's list.
How we approach it
Monthly care plans cover routine technical work on a predictable schedule, with clear response times and a defined list of what is - and is not - included.
What is included
- Monthly pricing on retainer - quoted after we review your platform, plugins and change frequency
- Core, plugin and theme updates where applicable, tested before applying to live
- Regular backups with restore guidance
- Security monitoring basics and malware scan awareness
- Content change allowance per plan (text, images, minor layout tweaks)
- Uptime and speed checks with alerts on common issues
- Technical support during UK business hours - typical response within one business day; urgent outages prioritised where hosting access allows
- Exclusions stated clearly: major redesigns, new features, ecommerce catalogue work, custom development and net-new pages are quoted separately
- Hosting fees remain separate unless your agreement states otherwise
Service capabilities
What is not included
Listed so there are no surprises at invoice stage. Anything here can usually still be arranged — it is quoted separately rather than assumed.
- Hosting and domain fees, which stay with your provider
- Major redesigns, new features or new page templates (quoted separately)
- Recovery of sites with no available backup or no access credentials, without a separate assessment
- Guaranteed uptime beyond what your hosting provider commits to
Typical delivery
- Site health review. We audit your platform, plugins, hosting access and typical change requests to recommend the right plan tier.
- Plan and access. Monthly fee, change allowance and response expectations are agreed in writing. Secure credentials are exchanged.
- Routine care. Updates, backups and monitoring run on schedule. Content requests are queued and completed within plan limits.
- Report and escalate. You receive periodic summaries. Larger requests are scoped and quoted before work begins - no surprise invoices.
Typical timeline
Care plans are ongoing and monthly. A site health review comes first, then routine updates, backups and checks run on a regular cycle, with a defined response for urgent issues in the agreed plan.
Ownership and handover
You keep ownership of your website, domain and hosting accounts. We work with the access you grant, and returns or revokes it whenever you ask.
